Client :HD Hyundai Oilbank

Service Area :Migration & Modernization

1. Overview (Project Background)

HD Hyundai Oilbank aimed to drive transformation into a smart company through digital transformation, establishing new business models and innovating corporate value. To achieve this, the company promoted data-driven enterprise-wide communication enhancement and decision-making system establishment, with cloud migration and modernization of key services as core initiatives.

2. Challenge (Problem Definition)

Before cloud migration, HD Hyundai Oilbank faced the following key challenges:

  • Operational and Management Difficulties: Multiple services running on a single server made operations and management challenging.

  • Oracle License Issues: Oracle license problems (Oracle EE) arose from using an integrated database.

  • Lack of Operational Standards: There was a need to establish cloud standards for source code management and build/deployment processes.

3. Solution (Resolution Approach)

MegazoneCloud executed cloud migration based on an All in Modernization strategy:

EKS Migration and Containerizing

Through EKS migration, explicit management efficiency for each service operation was secured. Additionally, containerizing was applied to improve portability and scalability while maximizing operational management and resource efficiency.

Database Separation and Optimization

The integrated database was separated and migrated to Oracle SE RDS by business classification to optimize Oracle license costs. Additionally, SQL tuning for performance issues and ETL stage optimization improved data processing efficiency.

CI/CD Automation

Cloud standardization for CI/CD was established for server and container environments. A Jenkins and ArgoCD-based CI/CD pipeline was built to automate deployment processes and maximize operational efficiency.

4. Result (Achievements)

Through successful cloud migration and modernization, the following business results were achieved:

Maximized Operational Management Efficiency

  • Portability and scalability were improved through containerizing, and operational management was streamlined.

  • Governance was applied through control tower establishment, and security/operational regulations were enforced.

Cost and Resource Optimization

  • Approximately 30% cost savings compared to existing EC2 were achieved through integrated EKS configuration.

  • By separating the integrated database and migrating to Oracle SE, license costs were optimized and operational efficiency was enhanced.

  • By converting existing Windows-based Java solutions to Linux (W2L), OS license and maintenance costs were reduced.

Operational Standardization and Improved Deployment Efficiency

  • Active adoption of managed services (RDS, ALB, etc.) and establishment of integrated monitoring systems increased operational productivity and strengthened incident response capabilities.

  • CI/CD pipeline and standardized deployment processes were established to maximize deployment efficiency.
