ABC C&C is making company-wide efforts to become a sustainable enterprise that fulfills social responsibility while placing ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) standards at the highest level amid rapidly changing business environments. We set new standards for style through diverse product lines including foundations, color cosmetics, body care, and hair care products that offer high quality without price premiums, and we prioritize making customers' and our own lives more beautiful.
Additionally, through our global distribution network, we currently operate approximately 50,000 sales outlets in 38 countries including the United States, China, Japan, Europe, and Southeast Asia. We have been listed for 10 consecutive years in the global beauty and fashion journal 'WWD (Women's Wear Daily)' which announces the world's top 100 cosmetics companies annually, establishing ourselves as a major player in the global beauty market.

The Challenge

ABC C&C faced challenges in running multiple events including Black Friday around November each year. Traffic exceeded anticipated demand, causing load issues on instances and RDS, as well as instance CPU occupancy problems, requiring a stable solution. Particularly ahead of the September 2023 Nego King big event, there was significant concern about how to successfully complete the event when the number of incoming users was unpredictable.

The Benefits

In preparation for the big Nego King event, we optimized and scaled out resources such as EC2, RDS, and Redis, and waited for the opening. Although tens of thousands of concurrent users accessed at the time of opening, we were able to process requests without any waiting or delay issues. The chronic RDS CPU occupancy problem that caused WAS processing delays was resolved, allowing users to enjoy Nego King shopping smoothly and receiving positive reviews from beauty communities. There were no performance issues in major logic such as AbleShop's home, login, membership registration, and shopping cart, and we were able to successfully conclude the event with 「record-breaking sales growth」 and 「new member registrations」.
Additionally, for events such as brand days and Black Friday held every November, we flexibly perform scale-out/in operations, and through rapid communication with MegazoneCloud and regular monitoring, we can provide quick incident management support when issues arise. By responding one step faster before users notice, we can quickly recover and respond, reducing user confusion and complaints.

Customer Feedback

By adopting a cloud environment through MegazoneCloud, AbleShop operates with 99.999% availability in infrastructure. In particular, the Nego King event held at our own mall was an exceptionally challenging big event. In the case of competitors, they were unable to proceed with the Nego King event due to customer complaints such as 「our mall's website definitely goes down」 and 「we can't buy even if we want to」, so there was significant concern. However, through solid support and consulting, we were able to successfully conclude the event, which I believe contributed to enhancing ABC C&C's brand value.
