About the Company
Musma is a specialized industrial IoT solution company founded in 2017. In the same year, it delivered a hazardous gas monitoring system to Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering headquarters, and the following year delivered a block location tracking system using LoRa network to Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and a tower crane collision prevention system to Hyundai Engineering & Construction, growing into a company that develops various solutions suitable for harsh industrial sites such as shipyards and construction sites. In 2019, Musma is making an all-out effort to develop and launch MCAS (Musma Construction site Asset management System), a cloud-based IoT platform service that brings together various industrial IoT solutions it has developed.

The Challenge
In the domestic industrial environment where on-premises-based system integration (SI) (e.g., banks) and service construction are familiar, it may seem somewhat unusual for Musma, an industrial IoT solution company, to develop new services based on public cloud. However, considering the many small and medium-sized enterprises that lack the capacity to build their own ERP integration platforms, except for a few large enterprises with their own IT capabilities, and the possibility of entering the global market, it was determined that integrating Musma's various solutions into a single platform and launching them as a self-service SaaS-type on-demand service would be highly significant.
MegazoneCloud Program
After setting a clear goal of building a public cloud-based service, Musma considered which public cloud service to use, and in this process, Musma paid attention to Amazon Web Services (AWS), which was updating features noticeably quickly, and the IoT solutions provided by AWS.
AWS's IoT solution portfolio had diverse features needed when building IoT platforms, such as Device Shadow and Rule Engine. In particular, AWS IoT Greengrass was a very useful service for Musma, which frequently had to consider sufficient Edge Computing Power in actual industrial sites. In addition to AWS IoT solutions, when designing the SaaS service architecture for MCAS, we were able to quickly build a serverless-based SaaS service by utilizing fully managed services such as Amazon Simple Queue Service, AWS Lambda, and Amazon DynamoDB (On-demand).
Additionally, Musma needed to collaborate with a cloud partner with expertise in two areas to develop AWS-based SaaS and target the global market using AWS Marketplace. MegazoneCloud was well known as Korea's largest AWS Premier Partner and had dedicated teams for SaaS on AWS and AWS Marketplace, so it was expected that Musma could receive the support it needed.
The following is Musma's architecture diagram.

The Benefits
As a result of building a SaaS service based on AWS, Musma was able to enter the market quickly by shortening the overall SaaS service development period, significantly reduced costs for SaaS infrastructure operation and management by actively utilizing managed services, and was able to focus on rapidly advancing the services provided to customers by investing those efforts in analyzing and developing application business logic.
Additionally, Musma received technical consultation from MegazoneCloud on SaaS on AWS architecture design and the use of new AWS IoT-related services, as well as support for AWS Marketplace listing. Team Lead Song Yong-seok said, "After the MCAS service is listed on AWS Marketplace, we plan to continue business development cooperation with MegazoneCloud targeting the global market."
Customer Feedback
"Musma was able to receive help from MegazoneCloud on SaaS on AWS services and AWS Marketplace registration and utilization, and plans to expand collaboration into business development areas based on the partnership." – Song Yong-seok | R&D Team Lead, Musma
